Pineapple Pizza With Bacon and Optional Jalapeños

Updated On:

One of my go to pizza recipes is pineapple pizza with bacon. The combination of sweet pineapple and salty bacon is amazing. Then when you combine this with Jalapeño, it takes it to a whole new level.  Below you will find the recipe, which is incredibly easy and tastes amazing.

This pizza does cause a bit of controversy, some people like pineapple on a pizza whereas others hate it. Personally I think Ham and Pineapple is a perfect match, combine this with a nice tomato sauce and it makes for an incredible pizza. This is one of those pizzas that is perfect in the sun, outside with a nice glass of wine, gin and tonic or a cool refreshing beer.

How To Make This Pineapple Pizza Recipe

Pineapple Pizza Recipe

Pineapple gets a bit of bad press when it comes to pizza and it can divide even the best of friends, hopefully if you are reading this then you are with me and a fan of pineapple on your pizza…why wouldn’t you be am I right?

Want to find out how to take the basic ham and pineapple pizza to the next level?…

The first step is to remove the ham and replace it with some cooked, crispy bacon. I find that this gives it a much more pork flavour, as ham can be a little chewy and a little bland. The bacon really brings out the flavour and in my eyes bacon goes great with everything!

I also find the saltiness with the bacon goes really well to offset the sweetness you get from the pineapple. The next addition is however optional, but one that I really would recommend.

Jalapenos…

That’s right, Jalapenos!

Adding Jalapenos to your pineapple pizza is going to give it that little extra spice, which again compliments the sweetness and the saltiness really well. Bacon and Jalapeno are already a combination made in heaven. (If you have not tried bacon wrapped jalapenos, omg you need to!)

If you are not great with too much heat, make sure to remove the seeds from the jalapenos. Don’t forget, they are optional. The Pineapple and Bacon together is such a good combination.

Now this pineapple pizza is incredibly easy to make and as you can see it only requires a couple of ingredients. Your first want to prepare your pizza dough recipe, check out this guide on how to make pizza dough

The first thing you need to do is precook the bacon. You want to get 4 slices of bacon and chop these up into uneven pieces. Fry these in some oil until cooked, golden and crispy. Once cooked place them on some kitchen towel and leave to one side for later.

Once you have your dough ready and rolled, add 5 tbsp of pizza sauce and spread it round the base of your pizza with the back of your spoon. You want to completely cover the base, except for around 1 inch from the edge.

Get your grated cheese and sprinkle this around your pizza, now this pizza tastes amazing with or without grated cheese. Next up you want to get your pizza chunks and evenly spread these around your pizza, after all you want every slice to have a nice amount of pineapple.

There is nothing worse than picking a slice that has no pineapple chunks on it!

Get your bacon that should now be cooled down and sprinkle this around the pizza as well, try to fill any gaps between pineapple chunks. I have a case of OCD, so I try and get the pineapple and bacon even spread around the whole pizza.

Finally if you are going to have jalapeno, add the slices around the pizza. You won’t want as much of this as the pineapple or bacon, as you just want it to add to the flavour instead of overpowering it.

Pop it in your oven or pizza oven and cook until the dough is fully cooked, take it out and enjoy!
